| The NoiseMapper-RT (Remote Terminal) equipment is a standalone operating remote terminal (sound-level meter), appropriate for both outdoor and indoor installation, designed by GEONICA for continuously measuring ambient noise.
Each terminal is made up by a professional high quality microphone connected to an advanced acoustic signal processing unit, completed with an electronic measurement and processed-data storage unit, provided as well with an integrated GSM/GPRS radio-modem. Said radio-modem allows transmitting the data to a Central Ambient Noise Monitoring Station (NMC - Noise Management Center), where dynamic noise maps are prepared and presented, with reliable and precise data updated in real time, fed by the continuous measurements from all the sites where a remote acoustic terminal is installed.
Thanks to their extremely low energy consumption, the NoiseMapper-RT (NMrt) remote terminals are capable of continuously measuring and processing ambient noise, transmitting the data in real time via GPRS, powered by their own internal battery and a small solar charging panel. Optionally, it is also possible to transmit the data using Wi-Fi networks or point-to-point, or point-to-multipoint, radio links. The combination of the NMrt remote stations network and the Central Ambient Noise Monitoring Station make up the NoiseMonitoring System, described separately. The operation of the NoiseMapper-RT (NMrt) sound-level meter complies with the IEC-61672 regulation and for calibration purposes, the IEC-60942 regulation, which are used in Spanish and European legislations, after recently replacing the previous IEC 651, 804 and 1260 regulations.
